The pre-cursor to Mahayana Sutras; the Agamas, collections of scriptures. The Pali Canon is perhaps the earliest and most complete collection of Buddhist scriptures. However, corresponding very close in timeline and with many overlaps are the Agamas. The Chinese Agamas have been preserved from around the early centuries of the Common Era (after Jesus birth) and are very similar with overlaps to the Pali Canon.
